Behested Payment

State law places various limits and reporting requirements on state and local elected officials. Among these is what is commonly referred to as “behested payment” reporting.  This form of reporting may be triggered when an elected official1 solicits donations on behalf of a third party, such as a charitable foundation or government agency.
